DESCRIPTION
The Mendocino County Farmers Market Association is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the newly created job of General Manager.
MCFARM is a not-for-profit group, dedicated to providing market places for the local Agricultural community to sell their products. The General Manager will take direction and be overseen by the Operating Committee (OC), which consists of officers, Market Managers and Office Manager. We are seeking an individual with good leadership skills, a creative thinker, fiscally savvy, a high level of diplomatic skills and a strong interest in working with the Agricultural Community.
The GM will support the Market Managers and Office manager who work with a multitude of agencies, cities, vendors and public in a growing arena. GM takes direction from OC and works directly with individual OC members on certain tasks. For example, works with the Office Manager on fiscal activities and works with the Vice President on Promotional tasks.
DUTIES
• Conflict resolution and negotiation is a major part of this job. The position is crucial for the support of the Market Managers and Office manager who work with a multitude of agencies, cities, vendors and the public
• Support market managers with their needs
• Some market visitation to ensure quality and safety guidelines are met
• Trained as substitute Market Manager or Office Manager in the event of absence
• Seek creative marketing, promotion and sponsorship opportunities
• Keeps website updated, vital and maintained with links to other community groups
• Helps maintain a healthy fiscal system & checks for adequate insurance
• Acts as a spokesperson in the communities, with agencies, cities and county administrators
• Volunteer Coordinator- Create a program for coordinating a network of volunteers at markets & for MCFARM duties
• Attend all MCFARM meetings- typically one in March; one in November and an Annual Membership meeting in Feb. Occasionally a special meeting will be called.
• Must be accessible for contact via e-mail & phone
• Be able to effectively run an orderly meeting; knowledge of Robert’s Rules
PAY & PARAMETERS
• Pay- $6000/ year- paid in a monthly stipend of $500, paid mid-month
• Work a minimum of 300 hours annually; contract to be negotiated annually
• Operating Budget of $2000- for supplies relating to mailings; consumer surveys; gas & travel reimbursement
• Independent Contractor- with own computer, printer, e-mail and work in their own space
• Contract to include a list of prioritized duties, with a time line of performance benchmarks
