SPECIAL SERVICES FOR OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS
Customer Assistance:
Customers are encouraged to ask questions from farmers. They are knowledgeable
about their products and are always willing to offer suggestions
on how to choose and cook what they sell. They don’t mind sharing
growing tips as well. Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance.
WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program:
Our farmers’ markets are proud participants in the WIC program which
provides low income women and young children with special checks
that are spent specifically on fresh produce at certified markets
in the United States to improve nutrition opportunities.
CSA’s-Community Supported Agriculture:
Anderson Valley and Laytonville
markets have been offering memberships to support local agriculture
and purchase fresh produce. They offer a limited number of free or
reduced memberships for low-income families, in return for volunteer
work in the community. The other six markets are hoping to provide
this program by July of 2007.
Education:
Collaboration with local agencies and organizations helps many of our
markets to bring learning activities such as cooking demonstrations,
children’s games, and information from nutrition and gardening experts.
Look for the monthly events listed under each market location and
the market recipes in this website.
Directory:
Most of the vendors will be listed in the website directory with contact
information, soon after renewing yearly membership in our organization
(which varies depending on the growing season of their products and
months of attendance). This may be particularly useful for customers
when looking for specific products after the market season is over.
We hope it will also assist the positive efforts of many localization
groups.
